US 16 begins in Rapid City, South Dakota and heads southwest through the Black Hills to Wyoming. The route heads west through northern Wyoming, running just south of or multiplexed with US 14, until it ends at the eastern entrance to Yellowstone National Park in northwestern Wyoming.

I drove US 16 from end to end in the summer of 1996, and took these photographs while on that trip.
